ABB Expands US Manufacturing with $120 Million Investment

Boosting Production to Support Key Growth Sectors

ABB is investing $120 million to expand its US manufacturing operations. This move strengthens its ability to meet the growing demand for advanced electrification solutions. The expansion focuses on two key locations—Selmer, Tennessee, and Senatobia, Mississippi. Industries such as data centers, utilities, and commercial buildings will benefit.

Expanding Operations in Tennessee and Mississippi

  • Selmer, Tennessee: ABB will invest $80 million to build a 320,000 sq. ft. advanced manufacturing facility. This new site will replace the existing plant and increase production capacity by over 50%. The factory will produce busway and bus plug products, essential for flexible power distribution in large industrial and commercial facilities. The project will create 50 new jobs, expanding ABB’s local workforce by 25%. The facility is set to open in Q4 2026.
  • Senatobia, Mississippi: ABB will allocate $40 million to double the size of its current facility. The expansion will boost production of low voltage circuit breakers, which are critical for data centers, renewable energy microgrids, and power infrastructure upgrades. This project will add 200 new jobs, increasing the site’s workforce to over 1,000 employees. Completion is expected by Q2 2026.

Strengthening ABB’s US Presence

Over the past three years, ABB has invested more than $500 million in US operations. Recent and upcoming projects include:

  • New Berlin, Wisconsin (October 2024): A $100 million facility for industrial electric drives and an innovation lab.
  • Albuquerque, New Mexico (April 2025): A $40 million factory focused on power grid resilience technologies.

ABB operates nearly 40 manufacturing and operational facilities across 20 states, employing around 17,000 people. The US market generated $9 billion in revenue in 2024, accounting for 27% of ABB’s global earnings.

Driving Innovation and Sustainability

ABB integrates digitalization and automation to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions. All new manufacturing sites will use ABB’s smart technologies to support sustainable operations.

Since 2010, ABB has invested over $14 billion in US expansion, mergers, and acquisitions. With 140 years of history and 110,000 employees worldwide, ABB continues to lead in electrification and automation.
