ABB S800 I/O Series

The S800 I/O is an open, comprehensive distributed process I/O system designed to communicate with controllers via direct connection or industry-standard field buses. It scales from low-cost, standard functions to high-end features, such as hot-swapping, HART compatibility, time tagging, and redundancy down to the I/O channel level.

By allowing installation close to sensors and actuators in the field, the S800 I/O helps reduce installation costs, particularly by minimizing cabling expenses.

This system provides cost-effective solutions for a wide range of field device interfacing needs, including basic analog and digital I/O, as well as intrinsic safety and high-integrity solutions. The S800 I/O is highly modular, allowing for a nearly infinite range of configurations, from highly centralized setups to distributed systems.

It supports industry-standard field bus PROFIBUS DP and is compatible with non-ABB controllers. Additionally, it works seamlessly with ABB’s Advant Fieldbus 100. The system can be configured transparently as part of the parent controllers, functioning like local I/O without requiring specialized knowledge or skills.
