Honeywell and USA BioEnergy have joined forces to revolutionize sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production. This partnership brings Honeywell’s Experion® PKS Distributed Control System (DCS) and advanced safety solutions to USA BioEnergy’s new Texas Renewable Fuels Bon Wier biorefinery. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to convert wood waste into SAF, meeting growing airline demands while advancing environmental goals.
Cutting-Edge Automation for Enhanced Performance
Honeywell’s Experion® PKS DCS will ensure seamless operations at the Bon Wier biorefinery. The system will optimize plant performance, enhance reliability, and uphold the highest safety standards. USA BioEnergy chose Honeywell for its unmatched expertise in automation and commitment to sustainability.
“Our decision to partner with Honeywell aligns with our goal to achieve operational excellence and unparalleled safety,” said Nick Andrews, CEO of USA BioEnergy.
A Strategic Move Toward Carbon-Neutral Aviation
Located in Bon Wier, Texas, the $2.8 billion greenfield facility represents a bold step toward sustainable aviation. By transforming sustainably sourced forest thinnings into SAF, the plant aims to produce fuel with the industry’s lowest carbon intensity.
To strengthen its mission, USA BioEnergy recently secured a 20-year agreement with Southwest Airlines. This deal allows Southwest to purchase up to 680 million gallons of neat, unblended SAF, showcasing confidence in the facility’s capabilities.
Honeywell’s Vision for a Greener Future
Honeywell’s partnership with USA BioEnergy highlights its dedication to sustainable innovation. The company’s advanced automation solutions will drive efficiency, support intelligent operations, and promote environmental stewardship.
“Our collaboration reflects our shared vision of advancing the future of aviation through sustainable technologies,” said Pramesh Maheshwari, president of Honeywell Process Solutions.
Transforming Aviation with SAF
This groundbreaking facility will play a vital role in addressing airlines’ growing demand for SAF. By leveraging Honeywell’s technology, USA BioEnergy aims to set a new benchmark for efficiency and sustainability in fuel production.
The Bon Wier project is not just a refinery; it’s a commitment to shaping a greener aviation industry and creating a cleaner planet.
