The ABB SDCS-CON-2 control board is an advanced component for industrial drive systems, designed to enhance the functionality, reliability, and communication capabilities of DCS500 and DCS600 series converters. This board is built around the 80186EM microprocessor and an ASIC circuit (DC94L01) to deliver precise control and robust performance.

Key Features

1. Microprocessor and ASIC-Based Control

  • The 80186EM microprocessor ensures high-speed operation and efficient processing.
  • The DC94L01 ASIC circuit provides application-specific functionalities such as:
    • Communication via RS-485 (control panel and field exciters).
    • Measurement, watchdog functionality, A/D and D/A conversion control.
    • Thyristor firing pulse generation.

2. Integrated Memory and Backup System

  • Flash PROM (D33 & D35) stores system programs and parameter values.
  • Static RAM circuits backed by a 1 F capacitor store operational data like fault logs and alarms, with a backup duration of several days.
  • Full charge of the backup capacitor takes approximately 30 minutes.

3. Watchdog Functionality

  • Monitors the operation of the control board program.
  • Automatically disables writing to FPROM and resets critical outputs during faults.

4. Communication and Integration

  • DDCS (Digital Drive Control System) channel supports data transfer rates up to 4 Mbits/s.
  • Terminals X16:4 and X16:5 provide +24 V / ≤150 mA power supply for fieldbus modules.
