Overview

The TPS (TotalPlant Solution) system is an open automation platform designed for various industrial projects, ranging from small installations to large-scale systems. It evolves from the TDC 3000X system (now called the TPS Network), offering all its functionalities plus many new features. The system provides a unified approach for accessing data and managing resources. Key components include the human interface and application platform.

LCNP4 — Local Control Network Processor Boards

The LCNP4 is a high-performance version of the earlier LCNP. It acts as a co-processor to connect data to the TPS Network infrastructure and run the network’s software functions. Built on the Motorola MC68040 processor, the LCNP4 delivers similar functionality to the K4LCN, with performance enhancements in key areas.

Key Differences Between LCNP4 and Older LCNP

Performance: The LCNP4 matches the K4LCN in performance, while the older LCNP is closer to the K2LCN.
Memory Size: The LCNP4 has 16 megawords (32MB) of memory, twice the 8 megawords found in the LCNP.
Independent Reset: The LCNP4 allows an independent reset for the NT and RNOS processors. This feature enables TPS Network personalities (like the AM) to continue running during an NT reset.

Compatibility and Application

Both the LCNP4 and the older LCNP support GUS (Global Utility System). However, only the LCNP4 is valid for APP (Advanced Process Control) applications, offering enhanced performance for modern systems.
