Overview

The Model 3301 Digital Input Module processes input data through three independent channels. Each channel has an ASIC that scans input points, compiles data, and transmits it to the MPs upon request. The MPs vote on the data before processing to ensure accuracy and integrity.

Diagnostics and Fault Detection

The DI Module continuously checks each channel for faults. If it detects a fault on any channel, the Fault indicator lights up, triggering the system alarm. However, this indicator signals only a specific channel fault, not a module failure. The module keeps operating correctly with a single fault and can handle certain multiple faults without issue.

The DI Module also verifies the system’s ability to detect state transitions. Additionally, it supports hot sparing, which allows users to replace a faulty module online or keep a backup active. To prevent improper installation, the module is mechanically keyed when placed in the baseplate.
