EMERSON 396604-03-0 Isolated Analog Input (AI) Module

The EMERSON 396604-03-0 Isolated Analog Input (AI) Module supports eight differential analog inputs, which can handle 4–20 mA, 1–5 Vdc, or 0–10 Vdc signals. Designed for flexibility in industrial control applications, this module offers local and remote termination configurations to meet different system needs.

Key Features and Characteristics

• Analog Inputs:
  The module provides eight analog inputs (AI), which can be configured using jumpers. You can set each AI to one of the following configurations:
  • Isolated 4–20 mA
  • Isolated 1–5 Vdc
  • Isolated 0–10 Vdc
  • Non-isolated 4–20 mA current loop

  Notably, the isolated inputs offer a common mode range of ±180V. Additionally, the AI circuitry remains isolated from the bus interface, ensuring system stability.

• Configuration Jumpers:
  Jumpers allow for easy configuration of each AI input. Specifically:
  • W1 to W8: These set up AI1 through AI8.
  • Voltage Input: Requires two dual-pin jumpers.
  • Isolated Current: Requires three dual-pin connectors.
  • Internally Sourced: Requires four dual-pin jumpers.
• Termination:
  The AI module is available in two versions:
  • Part number 396604-03-0 for local termination
  • Part number 396604-04-8 for remote termination

  It connects to the backplane via a 36-pin gold-plated card-edge connector, ensuring a secure and reliable connection.

• Cable Shields:
  For proper grounding, connect cable shields to the ControlWave Micro’s housing ground. If multiple shield terminations are necessary, install a copper ground bus (up to #4 AWG wire size) and connect it to the housing’s ground lug. Use durable, industry-standard hardware (screws, bolts, lock washers, nuts) to secure the shield wires.
