The HIMA F 3237 is an 8-fold input module designed for safety-related applications. It connects safety-related proximity switches, proximity switches according to DIN 19234 (NAMUR), and resistor-wired sensors. It also monitors the lines for short circuits and wire breaks, ensuring reliable operation in safety-critical environments.
- Safety-related: Requirement class AK 1 … 6
- Automatic Testing: The module is completely tested during operation, including:
- Switch-on and switch-off capability
- Crosstalk of input circuits (walking-zero test)
- Input filter function
- Module functionality
- Short circuit and wire break detection
- LED Functionality: Not tested during the automatic testing process.
Key Specifications:
- Switching Time: Approx. 10 ms
- Operating Points (IE):
- 0 signal: 0.35 ≤ IE ≤ 1.2 mA
- 1 signal: 2.1 ≤ IE ≤ 6.0 mA
- Wire Break: ≤ 0.28 mA
- Short Circuit: ≥ 6.5 mA
- Line Impedance: ≤ 50 Ohm (according to DIN 19234)
- Line Length: ≤ 1000 m (Ø = 0.5 mm²)
- Supply Voltage (US): 8.2 V
- *Shunt Resistor (R)**: 681 Ohm, 1%, 0.25 W (R17 … R24, part number 00 0751681)

- 5 V: 90 mA
- 24 V: 170 mA
Notes on Non-DIN 19234 Proximity Switches:
- Proximity switches outside the DIN 19234 standard may not work properly with the F 3237 module, especially switches like the NJ 5 – 30GK – S1N (P&F company), which produces low current in the non-damped state. This can affect the wire break supervision.
- To resolve this, you can add a 47 kΩ resistor in parallel to increase the output current to 170 µA in the non-damped state. This ensures correct functionality, and a resistor break will be signaled as a line break, as would a real line break.
