This announcement serves as a product withdrawal notice for the Universal Safety Interface module, type FE-USI-0002, which will be replaced by the FX-USI-0002 module.

Withdrawal Date

The FE-USI-0002 modules will be withdrawn from the Safety Manager product line effective July 31, 2019.

Reasons for Withdrawal

The FE-USI-0002 module contains components that will become obsolete in the near future.

Parts Ordering

The FE-USI-0002 module will no longer be produced. It can be ordered as a system part, spare part, or replacement part until stock is depleted. Future orders for the FE-USI-0002 will be fulfilled with the FX-USI-0002 module. The Total Plant Configurator (TPC) will disable the FE-USI-0002 module and replace it with the FX-USI-0002 module.

The FX-USI-0002 module is pin-to-pin and function compatible with the FE-USI-0002, FC-USI-0002, and FC-USI-0001 modules.

Important: The FX-USI-0002 will not be supported by Safety Manager systems running on software versions prior to R140.1. It is strongly recommended to upgrade Safety Manager systems to the recommended software release. If upgrading is not feasible in the near future, end-users should ensure adequate spare parts are available for any detected faults in the FE-USI-0002, FC-USI-0002, or FC-USI-0001 modules.

Compatibility Limitations

FE-USI-0002 Compatibility with Older Releases:

If an FE-USI-0002 module configured with EUCN authentication files is swapped into a Safety Manager Release < R130.1, it may lose its EUCN certificate. This can lead to loss of communication and diagnostics issues.

Restriction: Do not use FE-USI-0002 in a Safety Manager Solution < R130.1.
