GE Fanuc IC697ACC701 Battery (Series 90-70)

The GE Series 90-70 IC697ACC701 is a lithium battery designed as an accessory for the GE IC697CPU731 CPU, manufactured by GE Fanuc Automation. Its primary function is to maintain the CPU’s clock and calendar, ensuring accuracy for processes like data transfers. Without this battery, the CPU might not function fully, especially for time-sensitive tasks.

The IC697ACC701 lithium battery also powers small electronic components on the CPU’s motherboard and BIOS. If the battery is low, the “Module OK” LED on the CPU will turn off during power-up diagnostics, indicating the need for a replacement.

A vital role of this battery is to maintain the user memory when power is removed. It must be installed before removing the old one to prevent data loss. The battery package includes 2 units, both of which are required for a single CPU. Its shelf life is 10 years at approximately 20°C, and it provides memory retention for up to 6 months without power.
