Functionality

The SAI-1620m module is a high-density analog input device that offers 16 analog input channels with a range of 0-4 V. Additionally, it includes an external voltage readback input in the same range. Designed for safety-critical applications, this module complies with SIL3 standards under IEC 61508, ensuring reliable operation.

Key Features

First, the SAI-1620m module meets strict safety requirements with its SIL3 certification. Moreover, its design isolates the analog 0 V common across all channels, enhancing reliability.

To accommodate different input types, it supports conversion of 0-20 mA signals into a 0-4 V range using either:

• Field termination assemblies, such as TSAI-1620m, TSHART-1620m, TSGAS-1624, or TSFIRE-1624.
• The BSAI-1620mE module located on the backplane’s programming connector.

In addition, the module allows integration of thermocouple or PT-100 signals by first converting them to 0(4)-20 mA using a dedicated converter. This flexibility makes it suitable for various applications.

The SAI-1620m also operates in hazardous locations, including Class I, Division 2, Groups ABCD, and Class II, Division 2, Groups FG. It complies with FM 3611 standards, ensuring safe use in non-incendiary circuits. For detailed information, refer to the Safety Manager FM approval PM.MAN.6348.
